MQHR Parish Pastoral Council Minutes 1/22/2008
The meeting was called to order at 7:04pm by the vice-chair, Dan Burch.
PPC members in attendance were: Fr. Joe, Dan Burch, Mike Hogge, John Mitchell, Walter Leachman, Steve McCauley, Enid Timoney, Leslie Hinkle, Ron Wedding, Jeff Schriefer, and Ryan Van Daniker.
Father Joe led a prayer and gospel reading with reflection.
A motion was made to approve the minutes from the November 20th PPC meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
Fr. Joe gave a brief presentation concerning the Development Steering Committee Listening Session. PPC members filled out a short questionnaire.
Evangelization Committee: no report given.
Worship Committee: report given by Fr. Joe. The committee is in the process of nominating a new chair. The committee is working on members fulfilling their commitments to their ministries. The committee is preparing for Lent and the Triduum.
Religious Formation: no report given.
Stewardship Committee: report given by Fr. Joe. The committee is working closely with the Steering Committee for the total stewardship program.
Social Justice: no report given.
Community Life: no report given. Fr. Joe announced Leslie Hinkle has been hired as Community Life Director.
Communication committee: no report given.
Finance Council: report given by Ryan Van Daniker, written copy attached.
School Board Committee: report given by Enid Timoney. Ms. Keller will be retiring as principal at the end of the school year. The board requested data be collected that tracks student movement to and from the school, including movement between both diocesan and non diocesan schools. The 2008/09 school year calendar will be submitted to the Superintendent for approval. The diocesan schools in Fayette Co. have coordinated their calendars so the schools will be on the same schedule. Terra Nova test scores for the last two years have increased in every area compared to the four years preceding. (See also school board meeting minutes)

Pastor’s report: report given by Fr. Joe. Fr. Joe discussed the necessity for adhering to the structure and operating principles of the committees that report to the Parish Pastoral Council. Fr. Joe discussed the responsibilities of the PPC, committees and subcommittees. The process needs to operate in a manner that improves communication and provides oversight. 550 people have registered for the Why Catholic? program.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 25, 2008 at 7pm.
Fr. Joe led the closing prayer, and the meeting adjourned at 9:02pm.
